What is Neuron Lab?

Neuron Lab is a research platform for reproducible neurobioinformatics and computational neuroscience. It bundles curated analysis modules (statistics, machine learning, dynamical systems, sequence/graph tools) and Neuron-FM foundation-model baselines that run on your own data or on built-in synthetic inputs.

Who is it for?

Wet-lab and dry-lab researchers, computational neuroscientists, bioinformatics students, and small labs that want a single environment to explore analyses without stitching together notebooks and scripts.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Every module has a parameter form, a plain-language description of what it does, and structured outputs (metrics, tables, charts, embeddings, rasters). Coding is optional.

How are results computed?

All analyses run through the same server-side compute engine, which implements the underlying algorithm (e.g. Welch's t-test, PCA, Hodgkin–Huxley integration, Wilson–Cowan dynamics, random forests). No third-party statistical services are called during a run.

What kinds of data can I upload?

Numeric matrices, count tables, sequences, spike trains, adjacency matrices, and signal windows in common text formats (CSV/TSV). Each module page lists the accepted dataset kinds.

Where is my data stored?

Uploaded datasets live in a private storage bucket scoped to your account. Analysis results and metadata are stored in a database with row-level security so that only you and collaborators you explicitly invite can read your rows.

Is my data used to train models?

No. Your uploads are only used to run the analyses you launch. We do not train foundation models on user data.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Datasets, projects, and analyses can be deleted from the corresponding page. Deletion removes the underlying storage object and database rows.

What is Neuron-FM?

Neuron-FM is our catalog of foundation-model baselines for single-cell data, neural signals, and connectomes. The current release uses parameter-free representations (PCA / spectral embeddings + nearest-centroid or k-means) that reproduce competitive baselines from the recent literature.

Which downstream tasks are supported?

Cell-type annotation and clustering for scRNA-seq (Cell Atlas FM), dynamical-state classification and embedding for ephys/EEG (Neural Signal FM), and community detection on connectomes (Connectome FM).

Yes. Attach a compatible dataset (or leave the synthetic demo option selected) when launching a foundation model.

Sign up with email and a password on the Sign in page. A profile row is created automatically the first time you sign in.

Yes. The Free plan on the Pricing page covers small projects and evaluation. Paid plans add higher limits and, for institutions, SSO, DPA support, and dedicated compute.

How are accounts protected?

Passwords are handled by the managed authentication service; the platform never sees plaintext passwords. Sessions use short-lived access tokens and rotating refresh tokens.

Who can see the rows in my project?

Only you. Every user-scoped table has row-level security policies keyed on the authenticated user id, and privileged server operations verify roles server-side.
